The first cooperation with AdriAAA, NDSM Bikes and A-NORTH was a big success. During Architecture Tour Amsterdam North, our guide Adri cycled around Amsterdam North with our group of 12 to show them all the different styles of Architecture with a focus on urban development. We went from the NDSM-wharf, where we had a glimpse inside the warehouse. The old warehouse is currently the place for creativity, where artists have their studios.
From the NDSM we followed the road through Noorderpark, where a few weeks ago the new bridge was opened and to the main station of the subway: Noord-Zuidlijn. We were lucky because we saw how the new roof made of glass, was being placed. Adri made a small D-tour to make sure we didn’t miss the surprise on top of a small hill just before we biked into rural North. After a delicious lunch at a local farm we enjoyed the fresh air of the meadows and were welcomed by cows and sheep.
Touring from local farms to vivid Nieuwendam, we crossed the Nieuwendammerdijk. After the funny stories about the Captain’s houses we stopped at various old neighborhoods such as the ‘Vogelbuurt’ and ‘Van der Pek’. From old to new we arrived at ‘Overhoeks’ and the ‘Buiksloterham’, where Adri told all about the new urban development, which is clearly visible.
Back at the NDSM-wharf we said goodbye and made a group photo to remember this great tour!
